Lydia Nafula

Lydia Nafula is a Research Scientist in the Cultural Heritage Department, of the National Museums of Kenya. She has studied anthropology and development Studies. Her work focusses on both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. She has been involved in the curation of several exhibitions, including ‘Treasures of Kenya , Costumes & Ornaments, Kanga Stories’, among others. She is part of the International Inventories Programme(IIP), a research and exhibition project, supported by the Goethe Institut and the German Federal Cultural Foundation.

The National Museums of Kenya (NMK), established under the Museums and Heritage Act (2006), is a multi-disciplinary institution dedicated to collecting, preserving, researching, and presenting Kenya’s cultural and natural heritage.
