The Resource Centre at the National Museums of Kenya (NMK) is an essential facility for researchers, staff, museum affiliates, and the general public. It serves as a knowledge repository, preserving and improving access to information that supports scientific research, cultural heritage, and educational programs.
Unlike a conventional library, the Resource Centre integrates multimedia resources, archival materials, and modern information technology, ensuring comprehensive access to Kenya’s rich natural and cultural history.
The Resource Centre is divided into two main sections:
A specialized research facility with an extensive collection of books, journals, and digital resources.
A historical records collection preserving Kenya’s institutional and national memory.
The National Museums of Kenya (NMK), established under the Museums and Heritage Act (2006), is a multi-disciplinary institution dedicated to collecting, preserving, researching, and presenting Kenya’s cultural and natural heritage.
